I haven't seen either the "Chainsaw" or "Halloween" remakes yet, so I can't comment whether they brought anything new or interesting to the story. But yeah, I know what you mean. I think the appeal here is that these sort of movies can be made relatively cheaply, have a built in audience, and don't require a Masters Degree in screenwriting. :-)

I would have to say that crap movies like these are what's hurting hliwood. Are they so lost that they can not find any better ideas. We already know the Jayson story and if you know the story 89 percent is that you will not be scared at all. Let's hope that these stryke not only will get the writers more money, but olso better ideas, the doing remakes.
