Speaking of Hardy Boys,

Aren't Tom Cruise and Ben Stiller doing an adult comedy version of that?

I guess Tom Cruise is on a new career path nowadays. Tropic Thunder in 1 hour 40 min :)

Have to say really liked A4. Not near the first two, but it managed to engage me, and yes 790, I've always seen the 'motley crew' of that film as the prototype of Firefly. The group of misfits had Whedon's mark all over them.

One big issue I have with the film is that a miliary station's security is so poor that guns in the sleeves gets through, but that was pretty cool at first time so didn't bother me much then.

I also have to say I like A3 as well. Both the latter movies get abuse but found them gripping in different ways.

Keep in mind that the director of "Alien 4" changed Whedon's script DRASTICALLY. What we saw in the final movie was not Whedon's vision.

We had the briefest glimpse of Whedon's script in the coolest scene in the entire film: Ripley taking on the bunch of macho dudes at basketball and kicking their butts.

That final nose wipe where she flicked blood off her finger and it sizzled when it hit the deck... SWEET!

Rest of the movie, not so much.

People, need to look Alien 4 Resurection in the face, and deal with its awesomeness.

I reccomend the Extended version, make sure you stay for the last scenes. 8-)

"Serenity" is based on the subplot crew in A4,,,, 8-)

Joss makes great TV shows but doesn't mean it will translate to great films. I can think of Alien Resurrection and that was a terrible script he wrote, Serenity was alright but that had a lot of material to work with.

ANOTHER DIRECTOR WILL PROBABLY GET THERE CHANCE AFTER NOLAN BOWS OUT AFTER HIS TRIOLOGY IS COMPLETED. There's many different visions out there but NOLAN's act will be hard to follow. Personally Id love to see Warner Bros show some guts and let MIcheal Keaton come back as an aging BATMAN in a universe like BURTON'S ORIGINAL. It would make a ton of money and fans would not compare it to what Nolan has done! It could be something totally seperate.

Yes, can imagine the problem - fans of his expecting lots of witty dialogue and pop references, and very good jokes; haters wanting none of those things and hissing at the slightest Whedonesque moment. It could have ended up being not Batman enough for some, and not Whedon enough for others, and vice versa.
I do think he would have done a good job though. Not as good as Nolan, but would have been worth seeing.

I agree Steven. Though it would have been interesting, I'm not sure how the Dark Knight would have been received under his helm. There's lots of perceived concerns about what he might or might not have done with the franchise.

Batman by Whedon would have been more quirky and lighter.
Personally more than happy with how it turned out by Nolan.

Was a big fan of Angel though. That show never should have stopped after 5 series.

Liz, I will admit that Alien 4, Firefly and Serenity were great, but that's about it for me. (Subjectivly)

I respect the Buffy fans, (even worked on that show) but never liked it ,,,
They shot that series in Santa Monica California,,,

790, for some reason when you said Parker Bros, I thought Hardy Boys (Parker Stevenson, maybe?) and I was thinking, "Yeah, Whedon can SOOO do a new Hardy Boys movie!" :P

Actually, I am somewhat shocked that Hollywood hasn't started up the Hardy Boys movie machine. There are SOOOO many books to choose from.
