Oh well, guess the DBZ fans will just have to enjoy whatever comes into theaters.
Coal black hair can look blue under certain circumstances. That's what they should have went for. I think many western audiences would have been happy with that. It's probably the look that's being aimed at by dying the hair blue. Since the actor playing Bulma has brown hair they just went with the cartoon blue streak, as you might notice.
It's a compromise attempt to be real and be in character. This gal must have been able to pull out the right attitude and emotions that make Bulma a recognizable character, because while she's cute and all, nothing about her look reminds you of the character. I have to give them credit they are trying!
How many of You have went out and scrounged up the millions it takes to put this on screen??
If you think the suspension of disbelief is work as an audience how do think the cast feels? Just look at some of the Otaku crap on You Tube and give these people the benefit of doubt, none of you have seen even 5 seconds of "Finished footage!" Instead of endless comparing beat-down, why not write what you think an actor should be able to portray to pull the characters off. THAT'S what's important. Genuine characterization and emotion will never be seen as wrong. While costume design a characters look or story will change from iteration to iteration.
That's great donald, so why not just put one of those many DVDs you have into your player and forget about "Dragon Ball" the movie, since it's obvious so many righteous fans can't be wrong! I know I've done the same thing with other movies. You just have to let it go. Nothing you say here, will make any difference on how it will play. As Naruto would say, in the english version anyway, "Believe It!"
You really have nothing to fear from the live action movie. If what you say is true, you still have some episodes of the anime to go thru.
Why not wait and see the live action movie, then get the episodes you've missed and compare the performances. Come back here, and tell us how they compare and what was right/wrong with the performance.
I've heard the story moves like gangbusters, so don't expect Goku to spend much time in school.
A number of compromises were made to make it more family friendly, word is Roshi's character is more like "Miyagi" in "Karate Kid." There's still blood and injuries and such, so it's still a serious movie. Krillin may even get a little wedge of screen time..
