Fingers crossed about the actual design.
A guy made them and posted them on Superherohype.com a while back
Adi Granov is doing the concept work and final design for the armor, not who ever that dude is
Did you even bother to READ the post? Those were designs that were created by someone in the CGI field who had a sit down meeting with the VFX supervisor of the Iron Man movie in an attempt to get on board the film.
The designs WERE presented to John Nelson and the comments above reflect what took place during the meeting.

Im glad I'm not the only person who actually read the post.
By the way, Adi Granov is not the ONLY designer working on this movie.
Looks like something from a cheap kids tv show...
Go back to the old comics - REMEMBER, his name is IRON man... thats IRON man, not 'Cheap-Looking-Smooth-Moulded-Plastic-Man!!!
When you see him you need to think IRON. Big, heavy, solid, well used, scared, rusting just a little. This suit makes me think lightweight, shiny, polished, vain, complicated (not in a psychological way, just in a 'bad design' way).
Its pretty simple - thats the point. Get rid of the complex muscle look. make it look like Iron, not muscle - whats the point of calling him Ironman if he looks like a Gym-freak?
BTW, i'm not a fanatic, or comic reader, i guess i remember drawing him as a kid, along with all the other comics. I'm your average movie goer who loves the cinema. But i wouldn't go see Ironman if he looked like this plastic twat. For a point of reference i love the Spiderman movies (always been a Raimi fan), but i thought the Green Goblin suit was almost as bad as the one you've got here, whereas Doc Octopus was excellent.
Good luck folks, at this rate you'll need it!
http://www.zoho.nl/zoho2.html
luckily they were dumped
frankly they shhould use an anime manga design
#2: The Green Goblin suit was 1000 times worse that this design.
#3: I agree. This design is still crap and thank God it was rejected because it does look like a "plastic twat". (excellent description)
So I guess we have "seen him director a movie yet".
Wow. I guess grammar doesnt mean what it used to.
Vic
I like those a lot

Never though. :-(
Open your mouth and swallow your foot.
And choke.
Please.
And i still think this plastic twat power ranger is a piece of crap. whoever came up with the design should engage his brain (its I.R.O.N man, not plastic fantastic) or go back to making kiddie toys.
Open your mouth and swallow your foot.
And choke.
Please."
First off: Bite me. If you're lucky I won't ban you from commenting on my site.
Second, no, I never doubted for a sec that LOTR would rock my world, and if you bothered to read some of my other Iron Man posts on this site you would see that I'm actually very jazzed and optimistic about this movie based on the fact that Favreau is directing and the comments he's made so far.
Vic

He did in fact have a meeting. He actually met Favreau FIRST. Here is his response to my inquiry concerning your comment:
"When I saw Favreau at the 'Con, I showed him the renderings on my laptop. He gave me a quick look and said he thought they were impressive, but a different direction than he was going. He gave me the number of the VFX supervisor John Nelson, as he didnt want to deal with CG issues. I called John Nelson, mentioned what I have, and told him my experience as a professional CG artist. Since I have been at Digital Domain, Jim Henson Creature Shop and Disney, he was willing to give me some time to see my stuff. But it wasnt going to be a official meeting (as with Favreau and other production staff) and he was curious to what I had. He and his VFX producer saw my stuff on my laptop , and he liked what he saw. He wanted me to continue for a week , but he was going to talk to the Legal Dept about bringing me in as I wasnt solicited by Marvel."
"Later in the day the VFX producer called me up telling me as I am not solicited by marvel, they cant use me. Im guessing its either they call you, and you dont call them, or someone there didnt like me."
So there ya go.
Vic
Second, realize that Iron Man is a character in a fictional magazine, so normal engineering and physical limitations have no bearing( I assume that most of the people on here know this, so I won't elaborate).
Now, down to business.
The pictures cited above are the most disgusting, atrocious, projectal vomit inducing renderings of an Iron Man prototype, that I have ever seen.
Especially the ones on the bottom.
I'd have to agree with "Duncan", in that the look should be more steely. Though, I wouldn't go so far as to say that it should be the walking monstrocity that it was in the early 60's.
A little closer to War Machine than traditional Iron Man.
Clean, straight lines, greys, blacks and silvers, minimal flashiness.
Some is warranted.
How else will they sell merchandise?
Anyway, the point is, Iron Man shouldn't be a demon-smashing manga toon. But even that doesn't really matter.
Old Shell-Head will soldier on even if his movie is an unrealistic flop.

Don't hold back... tell us how you REALLY feel.
That was pretty harsh criticism from a self-admitted fat comic freak, don't you think?
Brandon is a friend of mine and (with the exception of the helmet, which I don't like) I think he did a heck of a job thinking outside the box and trying to come up with a more real world tech version of the armor.
So until you produce some kick-ass photorealistic CGI Iron Man renderings, perhaps you could tone down the rhetoric, eh? 8)
Vic
Vic
I was not criticizing his work. On the contrary, I could never hope to produce anything even approaching that calibur.
What I was disgusted with was the concept. The design.
So, if I have offended, I apologize.
But please, don't misconstrue.
Best regards,
Vic
:P
As a concept designer, I know this is one of the hardest things to do: re-imagine a character that has a huge fan base, and make it work for film. Props to him for having the balls to walk up to the director and say, "hey, look at my stuff, you might like it."
Now lets hope they actually build the suit and stay away from a totally CG character.
The only time something needs to be made "fresh" is when it is stale. Not the case with Iron Man.
Iron Mans early versions were pretty futuristic even by todays standards. Any retooling will just repeat the "updated" Green Goblin movie version fiasco. Not every suit needs the transformers look. Todays CG would make the gold form fitting sleeves and leggings look awesome.
THIS is the REAL Iron Man http://www.diamondgalleries.com/product_images/1/4073/001_big.jpg
Sure, we're using the terms superpowered characters an "realism" in the same sentence, but to suspend disbelief there have to be compromises made. Now if Iron Man was based in the 24th century, sure. But for now it's going to have to look a bit more feasible.
I've seen some concept designs and if they go with what I've seen I think it'll be a decent compromise.
Vic
I hope the movie is fairly faithful to the original story. The Hulk had awsesome CG, nailing Hulk, but the story was so bad, it alienated a lot of people who grew up with the comic and knew the story.
Vic
somthing worth thinking about, anyway.
Vic
None of the looks above say that to me.
Adi Granov's art for the first 5 issues of the current Ironman series is a cool reference. These examples above are too clunky and not 'exciting' looking.
Vic
Reminds me of a cross between Spawn and Batman 3.
It'll be a "comic book movie" alright. In the worse sense of the word.
It's almost like they took the DareDevil approach.
"Lets take some stars people recognize, a marginally inspired hero who isn't iconic in any way, and add big explosions... it'll be a hit!"
no... no it won't.
Sadly, this movie is destined to join the ranks of Spawn and Hellboy.
A favorite among it's core fan base, but zero power to reach across movie goer lines to attract outsiders looking for a good movie to watch on a friday night.
You could turn out to be right, but I hope not. I hope you come back to comment after the movie has been released.
Personally I think you're wrong. :-)
Vic
m armor d hundred times better then urs
stop jocking
w ya.......
^_^
Vic
It looks like the current comic armor , Vic, your right. Looks good.
lol, my sister's birthday is may 2nd and i was gonna try to convince her to go see it, just so I could tag along :)
Anyways, the movie looks great.
You can enter by texting the message "LG" to 42229 or go to m.lg2win.com from your mobile phone or computer.
they even fit Black Sabbath's Iron Man song in at the end. ^_^
Holy shat, I am DEFINITLY going to see all of them. Isn't one of them gonna be an Ultimate Avengers thing?
On the Hulk side, I don't know WHAT to think.
The whole thing with switching actors almost ALWAYS has a downside. I just hope they know what they're doing.
