Those are some fantastic looking movies and would not have been the hits they are without him. Certainly not with me anyway.

I much prefer his kind of special effects to the clean, overdone stuff we get now.

This shocked the heck outta me. I became a fan years ago when I read about his rise in the 1980s, when I was a little kid wanting to do monster movies. He helped Rob Bottin (who, along with Rick Baker, make up my three favorite makeup FX artists) on The Thing and that Dog-Thing just KILLED, it was so awesome!

Jurassic Park, Aliens, Iron Man, the list goes on. And I hear he was the nicest of guys. As a filmmaker, I dreamed of working with Stan.

RIP to a legend! His legacy and work have made him immortal in the industry.

This hit me pretty hard today.
Sounds like (thankfully) he left us at home and at peace......

This is a huge loss to the world and the movie industry.
I consider myself lucky to have met him backstage when he won the Oscar for Jurrasic Park. Very approchable man, who allways reminded me of a crazy scientist that would dream up all these classic movie creatures.

Stan created the Predator design in a few days, as he was working on 2 other films at the time.
The man was a genius. He has a great staff of like-minded talent that I KNOW will carry on the name.
    "Stan Winston Studios"!!!

Rest with the Best Stan! Your creations will live on for centuries!!!

God bless Stan Winston and his family and friends... Tim Russert past away on 6/13, this is a very sorrowful year for the world to lose such humble and amazingly gifted people.

Incredibly sad news. Stan Winston is and always will be a master of the special/visual effects arts; a name of quality. A truly great loss to the movie-making world :(

Oh man, so who's gonna make the next Iron Man suit? Rob Bottin?
  • Vic Holtreman · 1 year ago
    Jae,

Yeah, but remember it's Stan Winston Studios, he didn't run a one man show. I know he has tons of talented artists there.

Not really an opinion other than to say I am sad by the passing of Stan, who I did not work with and Devon Ryan who I did. I have begun to put out the word about Devon and have found out that much of the work he did over the years has well been uncredited or just not listed. I have submitted a biography to IMDB and let them know he passed. I am hoping others will go in and accurately start listing Devon's credits.
